I was thrilled to accidentally discover the Burke Print Shop while
visiting Abindgon, VA this week. Biking by the open door of this unassuming
little shop after breakfast, I spotted the glorious hulk of a Linotype machine
just inside and had to stop for a closer look. While the business is currently
operating only offset presses, they have kept quite a
collection of old presses around simply because they’re too large and heavy to
move out of there. Needless to say I took note of all of this for a future date
when I have ample studio space and plan to stay put for a while.
