Binding Experiments

My goal is to use some of the paper and prints I made this year in a book, so I'm learning some single sheet binding techniques. I ordered a few kits from Hollander's and Green Heron and made some practice books to get a feel for the stitching before trying it on my prints. The top photo is a single sheet binding using an exposed Coptic stitch. The bottom shows four patterns of stitches used in traditional Japanese stab binding. From left to right they are: basic 4-hole binding, Kangi stitch, Hemp Leaf stitch, and Tortoise Shell stitch. I'm curious to see how these bindings will work with the prints I've done. So far I like the Coptic stitch since the book can open flat, but the thread does become a strong element with this binding (see below).
